2nds Through Perfect 5ths (Two Intervals)

Refer to the text from the beginner interval lessons for explanations of intervals if you are skipping ahead. In these exercises, you will hear a starting note, and then you must identify by interval the next two notes that are played above the original note. Once you've heard and identified the first interval, the challenge is to shift your mental frame of reference so that the higher note in the first interval is now the starting note for the second interval.

No interval used in this lesson is larger than a perfect fifth. Exercises 1-6 play the second of the three notes twice to give you more time to adjust. Exercises 7-18 play all three notes in succession. Answers are shown as both intervals written together, such as M2d5, which would represent a major second followed by a diminished fifth. Some pitches have been respelled to avoid awkward double flats and sharps.
